Voices Left Behind- Personal Journeys Through Loss and Grief

Author- Marilyn K. Gilbert, Ph.D.

Voices Left Behind is a collection of personal stories of major loss, bereavement and reflections on recovery. It is an inviting, user-friendly guide to grief.

If you are grieving, feeling "lost in the sea of grief," or trying to help someone in grief, Voices will help you find your "way back to shore."

Of writing the book, Dr. Gilbert summarized her experience in helping patients over several decades this way:  I am using the words of former Ambassador Bruce Laingen, who was held hostage in Iran for hundreds of days: "We are like tea bags. We don't know our own strength until we get into hot water."

As Dr. Gilbert has stated: "There are guides to managing money, to successful marriage, parenting, and living better. Why not create a guide to healthy grief? This was my goal in creating this guide to grief- helpful for those in grief and for those trying to assist others."
